An
effective defense spray combines CN
tear gas and OC peppers. While OC, a form of cayenne
pepper, is an inflammatory causing agent that swells
mucus membranes on contact, CN is an irritant that
relies on pain compliance. The third little surprise for
the perp packed in a can of combo spray adds insult to
injury: the presence of a UV dye is included which marks
the bad guy so he can later be picked up by authorities.
The ultraviolet dye can not be seen under normal
lighting conditions and can take up to a week to wear
off.
Irritation + Inflammation: Tear
Gas and OC Together
The
OC causes pain and blindness, tearing, and burning of
the skin, and takes up to 30 minutes to wear off. The
tear gas irritates the respiratory system — causing
coughing, choking, and tightness in the chest — and it
takes longer to wear off than the OC. Since there are
individuals who are somewhat immune to the effects of CN,
the OC ingredient in defense sprays has become an ideal
solution. Check your state regulations before ordering
though: there are limitations on sales as well as
possession and use by residents in some states which
does not allow the combined pepper and tear gas
sprays.
